State Fair Board Nominations Needed - Southeast and South Central Kansas

Submitted by Daryl Buchholz

Daryl Buchholz

Each year K-State Research and Extension is asked to put forward nominations for the Kansas State Fair. In 2016, two terms are expiring for which we have responsibility to put forward nominations. Those terms are for a representative from Southeast Kansas and South Central Kansas. The state statute is very specific as to the counties included in those regions for this State Fair Board representative.

Following are the counties included for each:

The southeast extension area shall include the following counties: Morris, Chase, Lyon, Osage, Franklin, Miami, Coffey, Anderson, Linn, Bourbon, Allen, Woodson, Greenwood, Elk, Wilson, Neosho, Crawford, Chautauqua, Montgomery, Labette and Cherokee.

The south central extension area shall include the following counties: Lincoln, Ottawa, Dickinson, Ellsworth, Saline, Rice, McPherson, Marion, Reno, Harvey, Butler, Kingman, Sedgwick, Cowley, Sumner, Harper, Barber, Pratt and Stafford.

To facilitate getting this process, I'd ask that you forward any persons' names, contact information, and brief biographical sketch of that person to Susie, susiew@ksu.edu, with a copy to your area director. The bio-sketch should include a description of how this individual is connected to agriculture and/or agribusiness, their active involvement with fairs and festivals, and evidence of strong leadership experience and capacity. This information then will go to the Governor’s office for review and appointment selection by the Governor.

We need nominations, including the bio-sketch and complete contact information for each candidate by February 15.
