Facilitator Training for Farm and Ranch Succession

Submitted by Janel Koons

facilitation

Kansas Agricultural Mediation Services has space available at its upcoming facilitator training for farm and ranch succession. The training takes place September 20, 2016, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Butler County Extension Office in El Dorado. The training is available to any agent interested in becoming a facilitator and working alongside families as they generate a succession plan.

The training will utilize role plays and case studies to highlight techniques and steps to apply as a facilitator of family meetings. Trainees will gain a better understanding of their role as a facilitator, develop supportive skills to aid families in communication and team-building and identify feasible methods for the transfer of assets and management. Trainees will have further opportunities to advance their facilitation skills by attending a succession planning workshop series for families in transition. Each set of workshops will be held in Dodge City and Lawrence during winter 2017.

Lodging and travel for the training is on your own, but lunch will be provided. El Dorado does have hotels to choose from if overnight accommodation is needed.

If you are interested in attending facilitator training, please contact Janel Koons at 800-321-3276 or jksu@ksu.edu. These programs were made possible by a grant from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture Award Number 2015-49200-24226.
