Thank You's

Submitted by Daryl Buchholz

Daryl Buchholz

A few thank you’s seemed appropriate on this Tuesday.

Kansas State University and Extension Board Memorandum of Understanding. Our local Extension Executive Boards were asked to review the new Memorandum of Understanding between Kansas State University and the Local Extension Unit, and to sign the document. Follow this link to the MOU. I am pleased to report that we now have 100% of our local Extension boards to have submitted the signed MOU. Thank you! It is important to have that Memorandum to guide the work and responsibilities of Kansas State University and the Local Extension Board. We will continue to review the MOU and plan to encourage its review each year and periodically to update and go through the formal re-signing of the MOU.

K-State Research and Extension Award Recognition Nominations. Thank you for submitting nominations for each and every award category that will be presented on behalf of K-State Research and Extension at the Annual Conference recognition luncheon on Thursday, October 27. The team reviewing the nominations made the observation of feeling like they were judging Olympic events, where the field was truly outstanding and in selecting the most outstanding was like a photo finish. It’s truly an honor to work with such an outstanding faculty and staff throughout the system. My thanks to those of you who put forth the time and effort to submit truly outstanding nominations across the system. We won’t recognize all nominees, but I do want to compliment and thank everyone.

State Extension Advisory Council. Thank you to the more than 20 State Extension Advisory Council (SEAC) members who gave 2 days of their time this past week to learn about innovative, impactful Extension programming in Southeast Kansas, with a focus on Wildcat Extension District, and to engage in critical discussions on important K-State Research and Extension issues with your administrative team. We had nearly perfect attendance with only a couple individuals missing because of unavoidable conflicts. As the minutes of that meeting come forth, we will share the outcome of those critical discussions and how the SEAC helps in shaping the future direction of the Extension mission for K-State Research and Extension. To see who serves on SEAC, follow this link. Pass along your thanks for their commitment to the future of K-State Research and Extension.

And, as a closing, I will be attending the National Extension Directors / Administrators Conference later in September. Our keynote speaker will be David Horsager, author of The Trust Edge: How Top Leaders Gain Faster Results, Deeper Relationships, and a Stronger Bottom Line. Some of you may be familiar with him, as he has spoken to other Extension professionals in the system. You can follow this link to view Horsager's video on the topic of trust. I am looking forward to his presentation and discussions, as within K-State Research and Extension's core values is Integrity and Trust. I talk about it often in being "a trusted source." It is an organization core value to which all of us contribute. I am thankful to have this opportunity to focus on growing trust personally and across the system.

Thank you for all you do on behalf of the K-State Research and Extension organization to continuously make us better tomorrow than we are today! Have a great week!
