EITC. You Earned It. Now Claim It.

Tax time is here! Please help us promote EITC Awareness Day, January 27. It is a day designed to raise awareness of the Earned Income Tax Credit and who qualifies for it. EITC benefits help low income families, single parents, and the youth who are part of families who qualify.

In 2016 over 200,000 eligible Kansas workers and families received an average EITC benefit of $2,394 as part of their tax refunds. EITC benefits have been linked to healthier children, higher scores in school, and higher earnings later in life. Workers who qualify include, but are not limited to, Kansans who live in rural areas, who are disabled, who have no qualifying child, are not proficient in English, may be grandparents, or even have no filing requirement.

Watch this video to learn more: https://youtu.be/TXsdp6SDKcY. Then, help make sure that eligible Kansans file for this beneficial tax credit each year. Social media and educational resources are available at https://www.eitc.irs.gov and http://www.eitcoutreach.org/.
