Department Head of Animal Sciences and Industry Candidate Seminars

Two finalists have been identified to participate in campus interviews for the position of department head of Animal Sciences and Industry in the College of Agriculture.

Dr. Richard Coffey, will present to the campus community from 9:30-11 a.m. on May 1 in the K-State Alumni Center Ballroom.

Dr. Richard Coffey is the Chair of the Department of Animal and Food Sciences at the University of Kentucky. He is responsible for leadership and administrative oversight of the department’s Land Grant missions of teaching, outreach, and research. He provides supervisory oversight and evaluation of the department’s 37 faculty and 56 professional and support staff and overall fiscal management of an annual operating budget of approximately $9 million. Dr. Coffey earned a B.S. and M.S. from Oklahoma State University and Ph.D. from University of Kentucky. Prior to becoming department head, Dr. Coffey was an Extension Swine Specialist for over 20 years and, most recently, was Director of the UK Research and Education Center.

Dr. Randel Raub, will present to the campus community from 9:30-11 a.m. on May 3 in the K-State Alumni Center Ballroom.

Dr. Randy Raub is currently the Director of Research and Marketing for U.S. Feed Operations for Ridley, Inc. Dr. Raub earned a B.S. and M.S. in Animal Science from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. in Equine Nutrition with a minor in Physiology from the University of Kentucky. He held a research and teaching appointment at Kansas State University for 12 years before leading the equine research program and then equine business development for Land O’Lakes - Purina for 10 years before joining Ridley in his current position. His professional interests include nutritional physiology, growth physiology, marketing, management, and leadership. He also is recognized as one of the top equine nutritionist in the country.

The link will be activated at the time of the forum and posted on the College of Agriculture's website. Also available on the website are application materials and online candidate feedback form for both candidates.
