State Extension Advisory Council to Learn About Community Development
Later this week, the State Extension Advisory Board (SEAC) will hold their meeting in Garden City. This group of Extension volunteers are elected by local unit Extension Board representatives to serve in an advisory capacity to K-State Research and Extension administration. They meet 2-3 times a year across the state to expand their knowledge of state wide Extension programming efforts. This will include information on the many community vitality programs that are available state wide through their local unit office as described below.
Community Capacity Building: technical assistance and evidence-based programs to assist citizens who want to make sure their communities survive and prosper. Programming is available in the following areas:
- Entrepreneurship: Resources for economic growth
- First Impressions: A method to boost community vitality
- The Gold Standard of Customer Relations: Relationship building between businesses and consumers
Volunteer Organization and Training: improve organizational leadership and sustainability as people create a vision across traditional geographical, sociological, and political boundaries.
- Board Leadership Series: You are serving on a board…now what?
- Grant Writing Training: Partnering with funders to achieve community goals
- Kansas PRIDE Program: Vibrant Communities with a Positive Future
- Master Community Facilitator: Volunteers leading crucial conversations
Concluding the day will be a real life experience with the First Impressions program as they perform a First Impressions team visit to Garden City and report the results.
These programs are available for you to implement in any local unit across the state.
