Farmers Market Regional Workshops and State Conference

Submitted by Londa Nwadike

KSRE is again working with the Kansas Department of Ag and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to put on regional workshops geared for current and prospective Farmers Market vendors, as well as a state farmers market conference geared for farmers market managers and related personnel. Registration for the regional workshops is $20. The cost includes lunch and vendors can bring their sales scale to get tested and certified for free by the Kansas Department of Ag. Lunch cannot be guaranteed if registering less than 10 days before the workshop.

Locations and dates for 2018 are listed below. A website with more information and link to online registration is available from https://fromthelandofkansas.com/discover-resources/farmers-market-resources/2017-kansas-farmers-market-conference-and-wokshops.

Colby - February 1
Great Bend - February 2
Wichita - February 3 (held in conjunction with the Local Food Producer Entrepreneurship Workshop & KSRE Central Kansas Market Grower Workshop)

SARE is again generously offering scholarships to help cover registration and travel expenses for Extension personnel to attend either the regional workshops ($100 scholarships available) or the state conference ($200 scholarships available). Scholarships are also available for farmers market managers to attend the state conference ($200 scholarships) or for farmers market vendors to attend the regional workshops ($100 scholarships).

Contact Kerri Ebert, kebert@ksu.edu, to apply and for more information on the scholarships.
