Urban-Serving Extension Professionals to Gather in St. Louis May 9-10, 2018
Extension Professionals from across the North-Central Region will be gathering in Downtown St. Louis, MO in May to share and develop innovative programs that address urban-related issues. This regional meeting is one of several events across the country being coordinated through National Urban Extension Leaders (NUEL) - an organization dedicated to working on issues that are uniquely urban as well as linking rural, urban, and suburban efforts of Extension services nationally. Nozella Brown and I spent several days with NUEL last December in Nashville. We encourage your serious consideration of this upcoming opportunity.
The St. Louis event is designed to create a collaborative and exploratory environment for Extension Professionals who work in these areas:
- Urban Youth Development
- Community Capacity Building
- Community Food Systems
- Urban Extension Administration
This is your opportunity to build knowledge and explore partnerships with new colleagues from across the region. Breakout sessions are being designed to deliver inspiration for your work, identify funding opportunities, and design interdisciplinary and multi-state projects.
If you have questions about NUEL, don't hesitate to reach out to either Nozella or myself. If this opportunity interests you, please let me know as soon as possible at batesm@ksu.edu or 785-843-7058.
