Youth Mental Health First Aid

Submitted by Tristen Cope

K-State Research and Extension, Harvey County and Marion County, will be hosting a Youth Mental Health First Aid training on Monday, May 13, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The training will be at the Harvey County Extension Office located at the Harvey County Courthouse, 800 N Main, Newton, KS 67114. The training will be facilitated by Prairie View Mental Health.

Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. This 8-hour training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them with the appropriate care. This particular training will focus on youth.

Registration is $30 per person. The registration fee covers snacks and the program materials. Registration will close on May 6, or until the class reaches capacity. To register, visit https://bit.ly/2X4u9Qy.
