Communications Staffing Updates

Submitted by Jason Ellis

We have a departure and two new hires in the Department of Communications and Agricultural Education to announce.

First, Megan Macy, our marketing specialist assigned to K-State Research and Extension, has accepted a position as a national field marketing specialist for Sterilex, a leader in sterilization and disinfectant solutions for the food service and animal health industries. Megan has made many valuable contributions during her time at K-State, including re-vitalizing our brand throughout the state, providing a heightened level of marketing support for county and district offices and collaborating with 4-H leaders to launch the 4-H Grows Here national marketing campaign. We will miss Megan tremendously and look forward to hearing great things about her work at Sterilex. Her last day will be Friday, June 14. Cards of congratulations may be sent to Megan at 1612 Claflin Rd., 301 Umberger Hall, Manhattan, KS 66506.

Second, we recently added two marketing/communication specialists to our team. Please join me in welcoming Susan Schiff, marketing officer assigned to the College of Agriculture, K-State Research and Extension, and Taylor Kennedy, digital media specialist.

Susan Schiff comes to us from the Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine where she served as marketing director. She brings more than 15 years of marketing higher education experience after serving as marketing director for Clemson University. In the wake of Megan's leaving, please direct all marketing requests and questions to Susan, susanschiff@ksu.edu, or 785-532-1002, as we continue to identify roles and responsibilties in this transition period.

Taylor Kennedy joins our News Media Services teams as the digital media specialist. She earned her bachelor's degree in agricultural communications from Tarleton State University and her master's, also in agricultural communications, from Oklahoma State University. She has most recently been employed at Oklahoma State as a communications specialist in social media for the College of Human Sciences.

With these staffing changes and other recent retirements, our department is continuing to evaluate our communication services in order to best serve the mission of K-State Research and Extension and the College of Agriculture. We will continue to update you as changes are made.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Jason Ellis, jdellis@ksu.edu, or 785-532-5804.
