David Dunn Retires June 30

Submitted by Rebecca Gould

David (Dave) Dunn retires after 18 years of service to K-State Research and Extension (KSRE) and Information Technology Services. Dave began his career at K-State as an assistant microcomputer support technician with the department of communications and agricultural education in the information and educational technology unit. In this capacity, he provided technical assistance to personnel in the counties on and west of Highway 183 in support of KSRE and the College of Agriculture.

He is affectionately referred to as a “Road Warrior” because of his extensive travel to the counties in the western region of the state.  He was a founding member of the National Extension Technology Community (NETC) and assisted the department in hosting the conference in 2003 and 2014. For ten years, he has conducted the Road Warriors breakout session for the NETC conference.

In 2015, KSRE staff joined central Information Technology. Dave’s title changed to IT Support Specialist III. Dave embraced the change, became an asset to central IT and made us all better. When Dave was hired, the unit head told him to “Keep the people happy.”  He has done that and so much more. Dave solved problems, providing solutions with a smile and professionalism.

Dave is appreciated for his enthusiastic service and love of K-State. His impeccable customer service and technical skills will be missed for years to come. KSRE and IT will honor Dave at a reception at the Ellis Extension Office on June 28 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Cards can be sent to Ellis Extension Office, c/o Dave Dunn, 601 Main, Hays KS 67601.
