Shout Out: Shelly Garlow, Teresa Shipley, Erica Bletscher, and Krista Ruthstrom

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

This week’s Shout Out comes from K-State Research and Extension Post Rock District office professional Melody Saxton. Melody wrote:

“I wanted to request a "Shout Out" for the office professionals that I work with. Although I have only been here for a few months, Shelly Garlow, Teresa Shipley, Erica Bletscher and a fellow newbie, Krista Ruthstrom, women who work as office professionals in different offices of the Post Rock District, have made me not only feel welcome but provided me with the support and wisdom I need.

During Walk Kansas, Shelly has helped me work my way through different issues as they arise. Teresa is currently helping all of us to update our official bulletin boards with current copies of documents we need to post. Erica has taken over the responsibility for holding regular staff meetings just for office professionals so we can talk about issues and help each other to find solutions. Krista has recently joined as a new office professional. She is responsible for district financial administrative matters along with regular duties. Regardless, she is still quick to volunteer to help cover for someone who is out or to pick up phones.

I have not worked on such a supportive team in many, many years. In fact, it was during the 80s working in large law firms in Denver that I last received this kind of support from the women I worked with. Please thank them for the amazing work they do to keep the district running and to support each other and me! They are totally awesome!”

Shelly, Teresa, Erica, and Krista – thanks for all you do for the people we serve, our colleagues, and K-State Research and Extension.

If you know of a colleague or team of colleagues who deserve recognition for going above and beyond the call of duty, why not give them a Shout Out? Simply send their name(s) and the reason for the Shout Out to ghadley@ksu.edu.
