Shout Out: Jennifer Brantley

Submitted by Barbara Wingfield

The Shout Out this week comes from Barbara Winfield, office professional in Sedgwick County, and is directed to Jennifer Brantley, Sedgwick County Director. Barbara writes:

"I would like to extend an “Enormous” shout out to Dr. Jennifer Brantley, Sedgwick County Extension Director. The last couple of years have been very challenging for the 4-H department in our county, from Covid, to agent turnovers, to no agents, to two new agents and growing challenges.

Jennifer was our go-to-agent when we had no 4-H agents, and still had to continue to keep up with her own duties as director. She graciously had an open door policy no matter what the challenge of the day was and continued to be encouraging no matter how difficult things became. If we didn’t know the answer she helped us find it. We were lucky to have such a willing leader step up to the plate and help the 4-H office staff keep things going.

On days when things were very stressful her wit was a breath of fresh air that could bring a smile and ease the tension if only for the moment. Thank you Dr. Brantley for your leadership and continued support. You literally are the “Boss.”

Jennifer, thanks for all you do for the people of Kansas, our colleagues and K-State Research and Extension.

If you know of a colleague or team of colleagues who deserve recognition for a job well done, why not nominate them for a Shout Out. Simply send their name(s) and the reason for the Shout Out to ksreshoutout@ksu.edu. Also, it would be very helpful if you would put "Shout Out" in the subject line of the email.
