Shout Out: Shad Marston, Wendy Hughes, Marcus Preuninger and Ryan Flaming

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

The Shout Out this week comes from Wendy Hughes, Rice County Director, and is directed to several agents in the Central Region. Wendy writes:

"I would like to submit this Shout Out for Shad Marston, Ag and Natural Resources Agent in McPherson County; and neighboring Agents, Wendy Hughes, Director in Rice County; Marcus Preuninger, Ag and Natural Resources Agent in Reno County; and Ryan Flaming, Ag and Natural Resources Agent in Harvey County.

With the challenging times we all are now facing in Extension, a successful program is harder to accomplish. Last night, McPherson County hosted our annual Cow/Calf-Calving School, 190 attendees strong. It was a great turn out of producers that came to learn new techniques about the calving process. With this information, producers can use these new techniques in their own operations and make a difference in saving calves during the calving season. Dr. AJ Tarpoff does such a professional job relaying his message to the producers. We also had Dr. Dale Blasi give a presentation on "Limit Feeding," which tied in great with the challenges we are facing in the livestock industry. Not only did we plan the program but fed producers a great KC Strip supper in around 35 minutes. The room was lined with sponsors' booths sharing their company’s highlights. This night was even more successful because of all the help from many volunteers.

It’s exciting to work with agents here in Extension to put on such a great program for community members in our area."

Shad, Wendy, Marcus and Ryan, thanks for all you do for the people of Kansas, our colleagues and K-State Research and Extension.

If you know of a colleague or team of colleagues who deserve recognition for a job well done, why not nominate them for a Shout Out. Simply send their name(s) and the reason for the Shout Out to ksreshoutout@ksu.edu. Also, it would be very helpful if you would put "Shout Out" in the subject line of the email.
