Shout Out: Midway District Staff

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

The Shout Out this week comes from Kari Maul, Office professional in the Ellsworth office, and is sent for Agents Marcia Gier, Jessica Kootz, Clinton Laflin and Craig Dinkel; program assistant Karrie Van Winkle, and intern Kylie Rahmeier. Kari writes:

"I would like to send a shout-out to our Midway District Agents Marcia Gier, Jessica Kootz, Clinton Laflin and Craig Dinkel; our Program Assistant Karrie Van Winkle; and our 4-H Summer Programming Intern, Kylie Rahmeier. They have all worked so hard the last two weeks at the Ellsworth and Russell County Fairs. Every one of them has put in countless hours to make sure our fairs ran smoothly and that the kids not only had fun but also learned new things.

Marcia is our 4-H Agent and is great at being our "Chaos Coordinator." She is not only our agent, but a 4-H mom so she has to wear multiple hats during the fair, and she rocks it!

Jessica is our FCS agent and District Director. She has gotten 4-Hers learning more about exercise and nutrition by making smoothies with the blender bike!

Clinton is our Livestock Agent and he has worked tirelessly getting animals weighed in, talking with judges and just being around the barn to answer any questions that may arise.

Craig, our Crops & Horticulture Agent, has lent a helping hand just about everywhere. He also put together a Horticulture Judging Contest for the kids to do. On top of being at the fairgrounds, he has still managed to find time to make home visits to answer questions about lawns, trees and pests.

Karrie has also been a part of every aspect of the fair. She helped Russell County 4-Hers prepare for the dog show by holding classes for several weeks leading up to the fair, and has been Marcia's "right-hand man" in getting judges and taking entries, among other things.

Lastly, Kylie has been an amazing addition to our team this summer! She got some fun fair activities lined up with Commodities Carnival & STEM Stations. The kids all seemed to have a lot of fun, and she is great at encouraging them!

To say that I am proud to work with this wonderful group of people is an understatement. I am beyond blessed to be part of this team, this family."

Midway District Staff, thanks for all you do for the people of Kansas, our colleagues and K-State Research and Extension.

If you know of a colleague or team of colleagues who deserve recognition for a job well done, why not nominate them for a Shout Out. Simply send their name(s) and the reason for the Shout Out to ksreshoutout@ksu.edu. Also, it would be very helpful if you would put "Shout Out" in the subject line of the email.
