Natural Resources Training for Extension Agents in KS, MO, NE and IA
When do fire and water mix? When they’re both part of the Extension Natural Resources training to be held September 20-22, 2022 at the K-State Olathe Horticultural Center for extension agents in Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska. Prescribed burning, woody plant control, wildlife habitat, urban wildland areas, pond management and water quality information will be briefly presented and then demonstrated in the field, including the opportunity to participate in a prescribed burn.
Engage with state specialists and agency professionals to find out more about the Master Naturalist program, Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) funding opportunities for Ag producer projects, USDA cost-share programs that support natural resource practices and the wildlife habitat contest for students. In the evenings, enjoy a nature scavenger hunt and site amenities, including a disc golf course, gentle hiking, fishing (catch and release) and a golf driving range and chipping green.
Stretch your legs and your mind this fall! Join us for this chance to learn and engage with other extension agents, faculty and agency staff in a beautiful setting to enhance your natural resource programming.
Cost for attending this event is $50 and includes materials, activities, snacks and 4 meals. Lodging is not included but numerous lodging options are available nearby in DeSoto, Gardner and Olathe. A room block (Natural Resources Extension) will be available at the Super 8 Hotel in Desoto.
