Ignacio Ciampitti Receives Highest Recognition from the American Society of Agronomy

Ignacio Ciampitti has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Agronomy (ASA). The award will be formally presented at the ASA Awards Ceremony on November 8, 2022, during the scientific society’s Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland. The annual awards are presented for outstanding contributions to agronomy through education, national and international service and research.

Ignacio Ciampitti is a Professor in the Department of Agronomy. His research program is focused on exploring the effect of management by environmental interactions on farming systems, utilizing advanced data science methods, review and synthesis-analyses procedures, investigating interactions between crop production factors and using modeling and remote sensing approaches. Ignacio's program is focused on selecting the best management practices for improving yields under diverse farming systems with emphasis on corn, soybeans, canola, sorghum and other legumes. Ignacio is a prolific speaker and author at international, national, state and local levels, with numerous conference presentations, more than 200 refereed papers, book chapters and Editor of the ASA Sorghum Monograph Book. Ignacio provides leadership for several organizations, currently serving as division chair of the C-3 Crop Science division as well as a technical editor for the Crop Science Journal.

Fellow is the highest recognition bestowed by the society. Members of the Society nominate worthy colleagues based on their professional achievements and meritorious service. Up to 0.3 percent of the Society’s active and emeritus members may be elected Fellow. The award consists of a certificate, a complimentary ticket to the award ceremony and ASA Fellow pin.
