4-H Update

Submitted by Rick Peterson

Plans are underway for the Kansas State Fair. The state office has been hard at work to complete registration and event coordination. I want to commend the state office staff, our regional specialists and our contract professionals for all their hard work in preparation for this.

Thanks to all of you who have helped in this process. If you have some free time and want to help us during our annual State Fair set-up day on August 31, or later during the fair, please let Dona Ratliff know: dsratlif@ksu.edu.

I also want to make you aware of some staff transitions occurring in the state 4-H office. Terry Roberts has departed and has taken another position within the university. We wish her well in her new position. As you may know, Terry was assisting Shane Potter with the Kansas 4-H Comprehensive Out-of-School Time Program grant with the Kansas Department of Education. In their absence, I have taken over as Director for the project and have hired Amy Collins as a Project Coordinator. Her start date is  September 4. Amy will assist me with the day-to-day operations of the grant. Amy comes to us from KSRE's 21 Central District and has experience with the grant having hosted interns this past year. Please welcome Amy to the State 4-H team.

The fiscal portion of the grant will be transitioned to Catherine Hickman who is working with the state 4-H office on a part-time basis. Her contact information is catherineh@ksu.edu.
