January 2023 is Kansas Radon Action Month (KRAM)!

Submitted by Brian R Hanson

Kansas Radon Action Month (KRAM) will be January 2023. The Kansas Radon Program (KRP) is looking for local extension offices to partner with, to provide radon outreach and education. The KRP is offering no-cost live or distance public presentations on radon, and is seeking 5-6 local offices around the state willing to host us and provide the advertising for the event.

Events can be scheduled anytime in the 1st quarter of 2023. Ideally, the participating local offices will also work with the KRP to provide professional training on radon to either the local board of realtors or the local building code adoption committee.

As a reminder, the KRP has radon test kits available for purchase and resale by the extension offices to their clients. Test kit costs (including the analysis of the device) are currently $6; this fee is expected to raise to $6.50 in July 2023 due primarily to increased shipping fees.

If your office would like to participate in radon outreach this winter, please contact Brian Hanson at either bhanson@ksu.edu or 785-532-4996. You can also visit https://kansasradonprogram.org/home for more information on KRP activities.
