Apply Now to Host a Local Food Fellow in 2024

Submitted by Amanda Lindahl

Do you have a project related to local foods, school or community gardens, consumer education, farmers' markets, healthy food access, or outreach to local food producers that you haven't had capacity to do? Consider hosting a Local Food Fellow to help you jumpstart a project and continue to build capacity for Kansas local food systems.

K-State Research and Extension Local Food Systems is now accepting applications for local food fellow host sites in 2024. Thanks to our Regional Food Systems Partnership grant, we will provide funding to hire the fellows to work on site-specific local food system projects.

More information and the application link can be found on our Kansas Local Foods website

  • Fellows will be hired at $17 an hour to complete a 320-hour local food system project.
  • We encourage local units to apply by September 31 to host a K-State Student Fellow in summer 2024.
  • We are also accepting applications from local food system partners to host independent fellows in spring and summer of 2024. Apply by August 31 for spring 2024 or November 30 for summer 2024 fellows. Please share these opportunities with your local networks.
