September is Suicide Prevention Month - Join Our Social Media Campaign

Submitted by Madelyn Wahl

Suicide Awareness Ribbon

Today is the first day of Suicide Prevention Month. During September, the K-State Research and Extension Stress and Resiliency Team will run a social media campaign on its Facebook page to spread awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage open communication around suicide. The posts will include myth-busting facts, statistics, vital resources, suicide warning signs, risk factors, helpful information from the CDC and more.

You can share these posts directly from our Facebook page to your county/district pages by visiting www.facebook.com/KSRE.Stress.Management. A content schedule is posted on the KSRE Resources Microsoft Team page in a file named "2023 Suicide Prevention Month," detailing when each post will be featured on our Facebook page throughout September (for easier access, click on this direct link: https://bit.ly/47MsuEu).

Suicide Prevention Month is an opportunity to spread valuable information and resources while working to destigmatize suicide and mental health conversations. We hope you join us in participating this month by sharing these posts that offer critical information surrounding the topic of suicide. Together, we can make a difference.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with Rachael Clews, rclews@ksu.edu; or Madelyn Wahl, mewahl@ksu.edu.
