Shout Out: Multiple Individuals Who Have Helped During the First Year

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

This Shout Out comes from Ida Kaemmerling, office professional in Wildcat District, Girard office, and is sent for multiple individuals who have helped her in her first year. Ida writes:

"As I reflect on my first year with extension, I’m reminded of how many people have supported and encouraged me in this journey.

First is my friend Tara Solomon-Smith (Southwind District) who told me about the open position and how great extension is!

Second is the Wildcat District’s Amazing Director, Frances Graves! She has been with me every step of the way learning with me, encouraging me and allowing me to find my stride!

Third is Frances and the interviewing committee who believed in me enough to recommend to the board that I be the next finance and accounting manager for the district!

Fourth is the Wildcat District Board who made the decision to hire me and continues to support and encourage me in this journey!

Fifth is Shelly Wagner (Southwind District) who has always been willing to help out in anyway she can as well as Joanne Domme (Shawnee County) for providing helpful documents and answering questions!

Sixth is our Fabulous Auditing Team, Bob Casey, Ashley Wurtz, and Shay Strubinger, for ALWAYS answering my many, many questions, teaching me and helping me grow! I would not have reached where I am in handling the extension financials without all three of you!

Seventh is our Regional Director Carla Nemecek for her encouragement and support of not only me but the Wildcat District!

Last but certainly not least, ALL of my coworkers within the Wildcat District! They have taken me in as their own, been willing to transition with me in putting different systems into place to help things run smoothly, and have become a wonderful work family!

Extension is not just one person doing multiple things, but instead is made up of a huge team of people to help you, encourage you and cheer you on along the way! Thank you everyone!!"

To each of you, thanks for all you do for the people of Kansas, our colleagues and K-State Research and Extension.

If you know of a colleague or team of colleagues who deserve recognition for a job well done, why not nominate them for a Shout Out. Simply send their name(s) and the reason for the Shout Out to ksreshoutout@ksu.edu.
