The National Extension Framework for Health Equity and Well-being recommends using community development strategies with health literacy programs to ensure that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. The following resources help us improve well-being for all and achieve Healthy Kansas 2030 and Healthy People 2030 objectives.

National Women’s Blood Pressure Awareness Week: October 15-21, 2023, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office on Women’s Health (OWH) will recognize National Women’s Blood Pressure Awareness Week (NWBPAW). The 2023 theme is "Getting to the Heart of It." The initiative aims to highlight best practices in blood pressure control, raise awareness about the significance of maintaining healthy blood pressure levels, and educate our communities about the contributing factors, and implications of high blood pressure. For more information and recourses click here.

National Protect Your Hearing Month: October is National Protect Your Hearing Month. Noisy Planet and the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) have created free, shareable resources on why, when, and how to wear hearing protectors to prevent hearing loss from noise. For more information and resources click here.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in Children and Teens: This brochure provides information about attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children and teens including symptoms, how it is diagnosed, causes, treatment options, and helpful resources. Also available en español. These digital resources, including graphics and messages, can be used to spread the word about ADHD and help promote awareness and education in your community.
