The National Extension Framework for Health Equity and Well-being recommends using community development strategies and health literacy programs to ensure that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. The following resources help us improve well-being for all, and achieve Healthy Kansas 2030 and Healthy People 2030 objectives.
Maternal/Perinatal Mental Health webinar: Register now for the Thursday, December 14, 2023, 12:30 - 2 p.m. (CT) Maternal/Perinatal Mental Health webinar hosted by the national Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health. Attendees will be introduced to a Maternal Mental Health Disorders, risk factors, treatment options, and more. The Kansas 4th Trimester Initiative of KDHE also has resources that are aimed to improve maternal health outcomes with community efforts across Kansas.
New Report of Economic/Material Hardship Among the Nation’s Children: Along with new information from the 2022 National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH), the new report of Material Hardship Among Children is available. This report and brief video include data about children’s health and learning readiness, housing instability, eating and weight related behaviors and concerns, fetal alcohol syndrome disorder diagnosis and evaluation, and receipt of supplemental security income.
2023 Kansas Kids Count Data Book: Kansas Action for Children (KAC) has released the 2023 Kansas Kids Count Data Book which is a comprehensive resource of how children and their families are going in economic well-being, education, and health outcomes. Access the 2023 Data Book here.
