KSRE Website Update

Submitted by Meg Stopps

Greetings extension professionals! I have exciting news. After what feels like an eternity working on and meticulously piecing together the updated K-State Research and Extension website, we are finally ready to launch.

If you attended last week's First Friday Update, you are aware of our plans to soft launch the updated website on December 13. A soft launch means we will not be publicizing or drawing attention to the site outside of our organization. To fully assess functionalities however, the website needs to be "live," hence the soft launch period. There will likely be bug fixes and updates following this launch, so please refrain from sharing the news via social media or any other news-related outlets.

So why does this affect you? As part of this launch, you will notice the website has new navigation. Because of this, there are many new links. Unfortunately, new links mean many old links will now be broken. Use this soft launch period as a time to double check your websites for any broken or missing links.

Following the soft launch, we plan on "hard launching" the site end of January. Meaning, we will begin publicizing that we have a new and improved website.

Throughout the upcoming year, we will work with the Web Services Department on campus, to assist local units in their transition to the updated CMS (Content Management System)/University website templates. To prepare for this, it helps to take inventory of your current website and determine what content to keep and what content to weed out.
