The National Extension Framework for Health Equity and Well-being recommends using community development strategies and health literacy programs to ensure that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. The following resources help us improve well-being for all, and achieve Healthy Kansas 2030 and Healthy People 2030 objectives.

Supporting People with SUD: The holiday season can be challenging to people in recovery from or struggling with a substance use disorder. The recent SAMHSA report sheds light on substance use disorders in the United States is available here.

If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, call or text 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org. Learn how to get support for mental health, drug, or alcohol issues at FindSupport.gov. Locate a treatment facility or provider on FindTreatment.gov or call 800-662-HELP (4357).

Firearm Injury Impacts Health Care Outcomes, Spending & Use: An NIHCM study of child and adolescent firearm injury survivors, their families, and the families of decedents, has found that firearm injury led to substantial increases in physical and mental health disorders, health care use, and spending. For example, among children, nearly 80% of those shot survive. However, a nearly $35,000 increase in health care spending annually per survivor. Learn more here.
