Four Regional SARE Grants Are Open Now

North Central Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (NCR-SARE) currently has four open Calls for Proposals for grant programs. All are for projects that will begin in Spring 2025.

  • 2025 Research and Education Grant Program is for large sustainable agriculture research and/or education projects up to $250,000; deadline is October 10, 2024.
  • 2025 Partnership Grant Program is for projects led by ag professionals in partnership with farmers/ranchers with funding up to $50,000. Proposals are due October 17, 2024.
  • 2025 Youth Educator Grant Program is for projects that provide youth an opportunity to learn about sustainable agriculture. Funding is up to $6,000. Proposals are due November 7, 2024.
  • 2025 Farmer Rancher Grant Program is for farmers/ranchers to explore sustainable solutions through on-farm research, demonstration, and education. Funding is up to $15,000 for one farmer or up to $30,000 for two or more farmers. Proposals are due December 5, 2024.

Since 1988, Kansas has received $7.3 million in funding for 211 grant projects from NCR-SARE, helping to advance farming systems that are profitable, environmentally sound, and good for communities. SARE, part of USDA's National Institute of Food and Agriculture, funds projects and conducts outreach designed to improve agricultural systems.
