Much to be Thankful For
While many people are gearing up for the Thanksgiving holiday, Regional Directors have been on the road visiting Extension Council annual meetings and conducting agent performance reviews. Hundreds of miles—and a few wildlife sightings later, I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed every moment. Here’s why.
Laughter.
Every meeting has been full of it. The conversation, banter, and humor are constant. It’s clear these volunteers know each other well, feel comfortable together, and genuinely enjoy what they do. Thank you to our extension professionals for creating environments where laughter comes so naturally.
Kindness.
Annual meetings and performance discussions can create potentially difficult conversations, yet I’ve been consistently impressed by the professionalism and compassion shown by executive board members. They enter conversations with the best of intentions, show genuine care for their agents, and handle challenging situations with grace.
Impact.
It’s been inspiring to hear about creative programs, strong partnerships, and community support happening across the state. The impact is real—even if it’s hard to fully capture—and it’s all made possible by your behind-the-scenes planning, preparation, and relationship-building.
I am grateful for extension professionals who work tirelessly for the betterment of their communities. Your expertise, intentionality, and dedication to your boards, programs, and communities are truly inspiring. The meals, hugs, and smiles have made every mile this fall worth it. K-State Extension is in good hands, and we have so much to be thankful for!
