Shout Out: Margit Kaltenekker

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

This week the Shout Out is from Anthony Reardon, Johnson County Horticulture Agent; and is sent for Margit Kaltenekker, Douglas County Agriculture Agent. Anthony writes:

"Huge shout out to Margit Kaltenekker for her outstanding leadership as co-chair of the 2026 Great Plains Growers Conference in St. Joseph, Missouri!

This four-state collaboration is the go-to conference for regional specialty crop growers, and Margit played a pivotal role in ensuring its success. She supported every conference committee, brought great insight and creative ideas to the vendor committee that helped establish a strong tradeshow, and provided excellent direction and connections as we co-facilitated the small livestock preconference workshop.

On top of all that, Margit took on the major task of updating the conference’s branding and outreach efforts, including a complete overhaul of the website. Her dedication, passion, and hard work were evident at every stage of planning and execution, and the impact of her efforts was felt across the entire conference.

Margit’s contributions went above and beyond, and she deserves to be celebrated!"

Margit -- thanks for all you do for the people of Kansas, our colleagues and K-State Extension.
