Diversity Breakfast and Multicultural Summit October 1 in Garden City
Save the date for the Diversity Breakfast & Multicultural Summit to be held October 1, co-Sponsored by K-State Research & Extension. Registration is now open for this Summit, which will be held at the Clarion Inn in Garden City.
The breakfast, organized by the City’s Cultural Relations Board, will celebrate Uganda and will feature speakers Amy Longa and Steven Tendo. It is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m.
The Multicultural Summit will feature keynote speaker Dr. John Perkins. Perkins is a civil rights activist, founder of the John & Vera Mae Perkins Foundation and co-founder of the Christian Community Development Association.
Other speakers scheduled to present at the summit include sociology professor Dr. Jan Flora, Kansas State University, speaking about community integration of immigrants; associate professor of philosophy Jonathan Mahoney, Kansas State University, speaking about religions of the world; and Dr. Lisa Gilbert, speaking about her experiences in Liberia during the Ebola crisis.
