Working Here Funds Available
Through Frontier Farm Credit’s Working Here Fund, 4-H groups in eastern Kansas (*see counties below) can apply online for community involvement grants of up to $2,000 each for projects and organizations that make a positive, long-term impact in the areas of:
• Agriculture Education
• Hunger and Nutrition
• Young and Beginning Producers
The deadline for this quarter is September 30, 2015. Here is the application link and more information: www.frontierfarmcredit.com/workingherefund. Grant recipients have included the following organizations and project types:
• 4-H clubs and projects
• Ag education programs that address hunger
• Backpack hunger relief programs
• Food-to-Fork programs
• Agriculture education curriculums
• Community gardens and geodesic domes
• Greenhouses and hoop tunnels
• Hydroponics and aquaponics learning
• Ag literacy programs for children
• Food bank and food pantries
• FFA Chapters
Grants are determined quarterly based on the specific selection criteria. The current deadline for applying for Frontier Farm Credit Working Here Fund grants is September 30, 2015, and results will be communicated in October 2015. The next grant period will run October 1 through December 31, 2015.
*Kansas Counties considered: Allen, Atchison, Bourbon, Brown, Chase, Chautauque, Cherokee, Clay, Crawford, Dickinson, Doniphan, Douglas, Elk, Geary, Greenwood, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Labette, Leavenworth, Lyon, Marshall, Montgomery, Morris, Nemaha, Neosho, Osage, Pottawatomie, Riley, Shawnee, Wabaunsee, and Washington.
