Financially Speaking: State Benefits Open Enrollment

Submitted by Debra Wood for Family Resource Management PFT

Plan to arrive in time for the State Benefits Update during annual conference, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, in the Big 12 Room of the Union. Human Capital Services staff will be there to update you on 2019 benefit options and answer questions. The open enrollment period runs October 1-31.

This is an active enrollment period, which means you need to log into the portal and elect your coverage, even if you want to remain in the same plan. If you do not, you will default into Plan N with your current insurance provider.

If you did not request a booklet in the mail, you can download one from the State website at http://www.kdheks.gov/hcf/sehp/OE-Active-2019.htm. This website also contains a link to an online coverage advisor tool, ALEX, which can be used to help you determine which health plan might be best for you.

NueSynergy is the new administrator for Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) beginning January 1, 2019. Members have the option to keep current funds with Optum, or transfer all or part of their funds to NueSynergy. Instructions on how to transfer funds are also linked on the state website.
