Shout Out: Tara Markley and Christin Bartels

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

This week’s Shout Out comes from K-State Research and Extension Johnson County Agent Dennis Patton and it is directed to his Johnson County colleagues, Tara Markley and Christen Bartels. Dennis wrote:

“I would like to nominate Tara Markley, Johnson County Extension director; and Christin Bartels, office professional; for their leadership and handling of the Johnson County Fair. Relationships with fair boards are often difficult to navigate on top of COVID-19 throwing us for a loop. Tara and Christin together worked with all staff to create a model of providing a positive and educational experience for the 4-Hers of Johnson County. They spent many hours answering questions and leaving no stone unturned to guide our 4-H families through this new process. Flexibility and graciousness were evident over and over as necessary changes became apparent. They persisted in their work leading up to the fair, as well as afterward. As a result of their work, the majority of Johnson County 4-H families had a positive fair experience.

We are fortunate here in Johnson County to have their leadership, support and personal strengths to create a strong team. Thanks, Tara and Christin.”

Tara and Christin, thanks for all you do for the people we serve, your colleagues, and K-State Research and Extension.

If you have a colleague or team of colleagues who deserve a Shout Out, please send their name(s) and the reason for the Shout Out to ghadley@ksu.edu.
