New Community Forestry Coordinator

Kansas Forest Service is excited to introduce Matt Norville as our new Community Forestry Coordinator! As the CFC his job will consist of coordinating community forestry efforts across Kansas such as Tree City USA program, inventories, arboriculture trainings along with serving as a KFS liaison at the regional and national level. Additionally, he will supervise the four statewide community foresters.
Matt is finishing a Master of Natural Resources Stewardship at Colorado State University where he also earned a graduate certificate in Advanced Silviculture for the Practicing Forester and bachelor’s degrees in Forestry and Natural Resources Management. Matt is an ISA Certified Arborist and is a former president of the Society of American Foresters’ Long Peak Chapter. Prior to coming to Kansas, Matt worked as a forester for the Colorado State Forest Service administering contracts, managing grants, designing silviculture treatments, compiling Community Wildfire Protection Plans, writing management plans and implementing community forestry efforts across Colorado’s northern foothills and Eastern Plains.
