Join the Extension Master Naturalist Pilot Program
The Department of Horticulture and Natural Resources is partnering with the Natural Resources PFT to coordinate the Extension Master Naturalist program statewide. The EMN program has been successfully implemented in Johnson and Reno counties for many years, using a model based on the Extension Master Gardener volunteer program. Significant stakeholder interest has led to the development of a new pilot action plan (Pears ID: 28179) to explore a collaborative approach to delivering the EMN program in Kansas.
To learn more, visit our table at the KSRE Annual Conference Catalyst Session on October 23rd from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. and fill out the interest form online: https://hnr.k-state.edu/extension/natural-resources/master-naturalist/. We need KSRE partners to teach, host, and coordinate local volunteer service opportunities for participants. Our team at the state level will provide support for planning, resource development, training, coordination, evaluation, and reporting.
We (Cheryl Boyer, Annie Baker, and the initial planning team) are hosting an EMN informational session for internal KSRE professionals on November 12th at 2:00 p.m. When you sign up using the link above, we’ll provide the Zoom link and a calendar invite for the meeting.
Stakeholders are ready to learn and engage with us—all we need is YOU to make it happen! We hope you’ll attend one of our upcoming learning opportunities or email masternaturalist@ksu.edu for more information.
