Conference of Opportunity

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

We are less than two weeks away from our 2024 Annual Conference and Extension and Engagement Week! I look forward to seeing all of you there.

Annual conference always leads to anticipation. With all of the past community visits, the Next Gen Strategic Plan, and the Delivering on the Promise conversations, this year’s conference seems to have stimulated a lot of anticipation.

Anticipation can be a great thing. It makes people excited. Unfortunately, if you add one teaspoon of doubt and or concern to anticipation, you suddenly have a recipe for rising anxiety.

“Are they dropping any program areas?”
“Will my role be relevant after the conference?”
“Are they changing the organizational structure of our system?”
“Will I still have a job after the conference?”

Relax.

Breathe.

The 2024 Annual Conference is not about contraction or reduction. It is a conference of opportunity. It is a conference of more. This annual conference will provide you with new opportunities to serve your learners, industries and communities. It will allow you to meet and forge new collaborations with new K-State colleagues and external partners to act upon those opportunities.

This conference is about taking the best organization of engagement professionals -- Extension -- and enabling it to serve the people and communities of Kansas even better than ever before.

Leave the doubt and concern behind. Allow your anticipation to grow into excitement. Come and work with your K-State colleagues and partners as we work together to better enable the people you serve to build better lives, livelihoods, and communities.

I will see you at our 2024 Annual Conference!
