Kansas 4-H Meat Judging Team Named Reserve National Champions

Submitted by Kelsey Nordyke

2024 Kansas 4-H Meat Judging Team

The Kansas 4-H Meat Judging Team was named Reserve National Champions at the 2024 National 4-H Meat Judging Contest.

This contest is held in conjunction with the American Royal in Kansas City and hosted by Kansas State University. The Kansas 4-H Meat Judging team has been named either Reserve National or National Champions every year since the implementation of the All-Star program.

The team included Hannah Perrier (Greenwood County), Callan Smith (Barber County), Lillian Hulse (Central Kansas District), and Addison Westerman (Greenwood County) and coached by graduate students, Sam Stickley, and Taylor Dieball. Students and coaches have been preparing for this contest since their selection at the Kansas Sweepstakes contest in August. The team found individual successes as well with Hannah Perrier placing 6th overall, Callan Smith placing 8th overall, and Lillian Hulse claiming 1st in oral reasons.

Congratulations to students and coaches on this tremendous success.
