MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State University, Oklahoma State University, and the Great Plains Canola Association will host two regional winter canola meetings Aug. 6-7.
K-State canola breeder Mike Stamm said the meetings are an opportunity to learn about variety performance from the past year, as well as future varieties. He said production management topics such as pre- and in-season nitrogen applications, winter survival, and harvest management will be discussed.
Stamm notes that questions related to marketing the crop are still a critical topic. He adds that attendees will be able to hear from an experienced grower panel.
“With canola acres up this past year, there is interest in how the crop performed,” he said. “Overall, growers are pleased with their yields. Learning from our experiences will set the stage for a strong start to the next growing season.”
The Aug. 6 meeting will be held in Harper, Kansas at the Westview Lodge (1110 W. 14th). The meeting will begin at 5:30 pm.
The Aug. 7 meeting is in Enid, Oklahoma at the Chisholm Trail EXPO Center (111 W. Purdue Ave.). The meeting will begin at 10 am.
A meal will be sponsored by the Great Plains Canola Association and industry partners.
