Home Food Preservation

While more popular in years past, preserving food at home is still done today. Without factoring in labor costs, home food preservation can save money compared to buying commercially preserved foods.

When done properly and safely, home preserved foods can be a treat. When improper practices and unsafe food preservation techniques are used, the food could cause illness.

Fortunately, food preservation education is one of the topics we cover in our K-State Research and Extension outreach efforts. From how-to videos to hands-on experiences and demonstrations, our team offers many resources to get you on the right path to preserving food safely.
