National Volunteer Week - April 20-26, 2025

Submitted by Sarah E. Maass

While we have wrapped up the recognition portion of the 2023-2024 4-H year, it is now time to plan ahead for National Volunteer Week.  This one week out of the year we have the opportunity to recognize and celebrate our 4-H and Extension Volunteers.  Mark your calendars for April 20-26, 2025.

Here are a few ideas on how to recognize and celebrate the volunteers in your local Extension Unit:

  • Highlight National Volunteer Week in your April Newsletter.
  • Prepare a series of Facebook/Social Media posts to recognize volunteers during the week.
  • Check-in with new volunteers to see how things are going and offer support as needed.
  • Use your news column, radio spot or write a special news release to recognize volunteers in your program.
  • Handwrite several notes of appreciation throughout the week to special volunteers in your program.
  • Encourage your club members to recognize their organizational leaders, project leaders and other important 4-H volunteers during the week.

Without our volunteers, we would not be able to deliver the educational programming we do as an Extension System.
