Save the Date: Explore Broadband Opportunities at K-State

Submitted by Office of Engagement

In today's interconnected world, reliable broadband access has become essential for driving innovation, economic growth and enhancing quality of life in rural and urban communities. Kansas State University is positioned to play a pivotal role, leveraging its expertise in research, education and community outreach to bridge the digital divide.

Broadband connectivity impacts multiple critical sectors. For example, in agriculture, high-speed internet enables precision farming technologies that allow farmers to use real-time data for crop monitoring and resource management. In healthcare, telemedicine platforms rely on robust broadband infrastructure to connect rural patients with specialized medical consultations and remote diagnostic services.

The university will convene an "all-call" discussion to gather insights from across disciplines, understanding how broadband intersects with various areas of work and informing the development of a comprehensive strategic plan.

"Broadband access and adoption are critical to the economic development, education and healthcare of Kansas communities," said Mirna Bonilla, Office of Engagement program manager. "By sharing our knowledge and expertise, we can identify opportunities for collaboration and develop a plan that leverages our collective strengths."

Discussion opportunities:

  • In-person: January 14 from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm in the Flint Hills Room, K-State Student Union.

  • Virtual: January 22 from 10:00 - 11:00 am.

Registration is required for both sessions. All agents, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate and share their perspectives on broadband-related initiatives.
