K-State Employee Tuition Assistance and Dependent/Spouse Grant Programs

Submitted by Laurie Chandler

Kansas State University values continuing education for its employees and provides tuition assistance for classes taken through Kansas State University at the Manhattan, Olathe, or Salina campuses. Tuition Assistance for University Employees is available to all full-time (0.9 FTE or above), benefits eligible employees.

An application for tuition assistance must be submitted before the start of each semester. Payment of tuition for one undergraduate or graduate course, up to three hours, is permitted for each Fall, Spring and Summer semester. Three hours of tuition is covered at the in-state, on campus rate. Tuition assistance does not include additional fees.

In order to be eligible for the K-State Spouse/Dependent Grant program, the employee must carry a full-time (0.9 FTE or above), benefits eligible, regular (non-term) appointment throughout the full academic year. Full-time (0.9 FTE or above), benefits eligible, term employees are eligible for the spouse/dependent grant upon attaining five years of service in a faculty or staff appointment to Kansas State University.

The Dependent/Spouse Grant provides up to seven hours of undergraduate or three hours of graduate credit per semester for eligible employees and dependents. The deadline to submit the application is the end of the academic term for which the application is being submitted.

Both applications require the employee's and department head's signatures. For extension agents, completed applications should be submitted to Jennifer Wilson, Extension Operations, jrwilson@ksu.edu. Extension specialists should send completed applications to their department head.

More information about the tuition assistance and dependent/spouse grants can be found by visiting the K-State Office of Financial Assistance.
