Congratulations to FCS Award Winners

Submitted by Robin Eubank-Callis

Jodi Denton & Bernadette Trieb with NEAFCS Awards.

At Grand Rapids, in addition to learning about new studies, programs, and outreach efforts, Kansas FCS agents and specialists received national awards.

Jodi Denton, Pratt County, received the Continued Excellence Award. This requires at least 12 years of NEAFCS membership, attendance at three National Meetings, and continued dedication to professional development. Jodi has represented KEAFCS on JCEP and just completed the term as President.

Bernadette Trieb, Wabaunsee County, received the Distinguished Service Award. This requires at least 10 years of NEAFCS membership, attendance at two National Meetings, leadership and outstanding programs. Bernadette just finished her term as North East Area Counselor for KEAFCS.

The Kansas Delegation was excited to see two of our specialists recognized as part of multi-state, award-winning teams. The Extension Disaster Education Network, EDEN, won multiple awards for 52 Ways to Climate-Proof Your Finances. Elizabeth Kiss serves on this team and was recognized as a national award winner.

The North Central Food Safety Extension Network (NCFSEN) was recognized for its educational efforts. Karen Blakeslee serves on this team and was recognized as a national award winner.

All national winners were also recognized during the Regional Meeting because to win a national award, they first won at the state and regional levels. The multi-state awards were submitted through a different state; therefore, we were unaware and unable to recognize them as winners in September at the KEAFCS Awards Recognition.

Also recognized during the Regional Meeting was Jamie Rathbun, Post Rock District, for Communications Newsletter 2nd Place Regional Winner.

Thank you to Erin Tynon for serving as Vice President of Awards for Kansas.
