From Your Coaching Team: Navigating Change Together
Many years ago, one of our mentors in extension shared a piece of advice that continues to guide us: Form your own opinions about the people and happenings in your extension unit.
That wisdom has shaped our journey, and we pass it along to you now not as a rule, but as a reminder to stay grounded in your own experience and judgment.
Lately, it feels like we’ve been moving at Mach 2 with our hair on fire, and yes, that pace can be overwhelming. But here’s the truth: change is part of the ride. We’ve all had to pivot quickly, and while it’s not always comfortable, facing change head-on is where growth happens.
There will be turbulence: Sometimes light, sometimes intense, but if we stay the course, we’ll find smoother skies ahead.
As we climb through these shifts, we want to remind you that energy and perspective matter. Experience doesn’t mean being ‘old;’ it means being spicy, bold, and ready to lead.
In this season of rapid transformation, our new teammates are watching. They’re learning not just systems, but how we show up. Every moment is a chance to model resilience, curiosity and grace.
One change we’ve heard a lot about is ADP – the university’s new time and leave system. We’ve explored both the web and mobile versions, and honestly, we’re loving it. Yes, it’s different. Yes, it takes a minute to adjust. But give it time; it’s intuitive, efficient, and it’s here to support us.
Let’s keep this in mind: Every change is an opportunity to lead. It doesn’t have to be a battle. Communication is a two-way street, and we get to choose how we show up in those conversations with respect, clarity and a commitment to growth.
And above all, let’s remember that change is the only constant. Let’s embrace it, together.
