Researchers Frequently Depend on County and District Extension Staff

Submitted by Carol Baldwin

Researchers frequently depend on county and district Extension staff to assist with finding research locations, aid in conducting research, and planning and providing outreach activities. Without this dedicated group of K-Staters, off-campus research would be much more difficult to conduct and results would stay more closely within the university instead of being "put to work" to improve the lives of Kansans.

These are difficult economic times, and budget cuts are hurting local offices as well as campus entities. When writing your next grant, think about including a modest sum of money to compensate the local offices who are assisting you with your work. While the sum provided may be small in terms of the overall grant budget, it can be big in the amount of work it does in the county.
