Extension Agents May Qualify for Student Loan Forgiveness

Submitted by Jennifer Wilson

Extension agents with federal student loans may qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. All local, state or federal government employees that work full-time qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness, but there are several more requirements such as being on the correct qualifying repayment method and having Direct federal loans.

K-State's Powercat Financial has developed a helpful tool to help those with student loan debt determine if they qualify for the program. Follow the rest of the steps in the flowchart to determine eligibility. Contact your federal loan servicer for assistance in setting up the loan forgiveness.

Extension Operations can sign off on the proof of employment for those who need to submit paperwork.
