Late Registration open until October 18: $50 (Full cost is normally $125)

This evidenced-based program focuses on building family strengths in the areas of bonding (spending quality positive time together), boundaries (recognizing the roles of each family member and the boundaries that apply for positive family relationships), and monitoring (the importance of parents monitoring their child(ren)s' activities and related communication while verifying the information they are provided. The identified outcomes of the program include: a) reduce problem behaviors, delinquency, and alcohol and drug abuse in children, and to improve social competencies and school performance.
FAQs:
Q: Is this for FCD PFT members only?
A: No - all agents who work with families in their district or unit can register. This is a state-wide initiatve.
Q: Will there be additional trainings?
A: We plan to offer trainings across the state. The Manhattan training is being offered following Annual Conference to reduce additional travel time for agents.
Q: Does this program fit in a variety of community sizes?
A: SFP7-17 has been successful in very rural communities and largely urban areas alike. Based out of Utah, this program is widely implemented in the U.S. and internationally.
Q: Who can benefit from this kind of program?
A: Families of all shapes, sizes, and relations (biological, adopted, fostered, single-parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc). This program does as it is titled - it Strengthens Families and reaches beyond traditional parenting classes.
Q: Are there evaluation tools to use with families who take the class?
A: Yes. We have agents and specialists working to finalize evaluation tools that will be uploaded into PEARS to report the effort and important impact your work is making with Kansas families.
Please feel free to reach out to either myself or Shandi Andres, Flint Hills District Agent, should you have additional questions.
