Calling All Innovators!

Submitted by Brian McCornack

Calling all innovators! Calling all innovators! And yes, that means you. As the committee and I prepare for the Innovation Expo at the KSRE Annual Conference, which is scheduled for October 21, 2021 (9 - 11 a.m.), we are looking for people across our organization to contribute their innovations. I think a common misconception is that most people do not think of themselves as “innovators.” Bringing new ideas, methods, or products to our stakeholders requires innovative approaches.

This expo is a “show and learn” event, and we want you to showcase your ideas, gadgets, and “tools of your trade.” Have you used streaming software to spice up your Zoom calls? Share it! Are you reaching new audiences using new and effective approaches? Then connect others to your innovation! Do you have effective ways to engage stakeholders in topics around diversity, equity, and inclusion? Then, you guessed it, share it with others! This event moves away from formal presentations and will provide participants an opportunity to try out the innovative approaches for themselves. Methods, tools, software, hardware, gadgets, surveys, approaches, and other ways you have innovated your programs, we want you to share that with the committee and the rest of KSRE. It’s time for your brilliance to shine! We want to fill the room with innovators, so don’t be shy. If you know an innovator, encourage them to share their hands-on innovation.

Submit your innovation here: https://kstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6ApEjD6wDgh1ep8.

We are accepting submissions until August 25, and selected innovations will be notified by September 8. Proposals will be reviewed and selected based on the level of interaction. In this case, more is better! Proposals that clearly identify opportunities for hands-on demonstration and engagement are preferred and similar proposals or topics may be grouped depending on space availability. Can someone walk away from your display with a product, an idea, or a little courage to try out your idea for themselves? Then we want to see you in the ballroom! All submitted proposals will be made accessible to KSRE prior to the Expo, so you can reach out and make a new connection during the session. Visit the conference website for the full agenda.
