Teen Leadership Opportunity - CIT Program at Rock Springs Ranch
An incredible teen leadership opportunity is available for youth from your 4-H programs! As shared at 4-H Program Rally, the Patterson Family Foundation has made the largest single gift for programmatic support in the history of the Kansas 4-H Foundation. The $860,000 gift will provide for three years of funding for the Counselor in Training (CIT) program at Rock Springs Ranch.
Rock Springs Ranch has asked Extension professionals to nominate one or more youth from each county to participate in this incredible leadership development opportunity.
The goal is for all 105 counties in Kansas to nominate one CIT to attend the week-long program at no cost to the county or camper. There are still available CIT camperships so please consider nominating someone today! Knowing there may be a few counties without youth who can participate, multiple youth from participating counties may be invited to attend to fill the program.
Rock Springs Ranch has received 27 nominations from 22 counties across the state.
Selection criteria:
• Rising high school senior (16-17 years of age)
• Has shown an interest in working with youth
• Has Interest in growing their leadership, independence and responsibility skills
These teens will receive camper care training and counselor experience. There will be time in the week for the CITs to enjoy some of the camp activities as a group. CITs will travel with younger cabin groups and provide leadership for campers. Rock Springs Ranch counselor staff will always be there for oversight and guidance throughout their time working with campers.
