Shout Out: Karen Shepard and Team

Submitted by Gregg Hadley

This week the Shout Out comes from Alysses Rippe-May, Livestock and Farm Management Agent in Twin Creeks District, and is directed to Karen Shepard, Twin Creeks FCS Agent and her Simply Produce Team. Alysses writes:

I would like to submit a Shout-Out to Karen Shepard, Twin Creeks District FCS agent and her Simply Produce team, Donna Newell-Culley and Pam Simonsson (Twin Creeks District office professionals); and Raye's Grocery, our community partner in Oberlin. As a team, they have sold over 775 baskets in the first seven months of participation in the Simply Produce program. That equates to over 11,600 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables in the hands of our Twin Creeks District residents, all purchased at wholesale cost. One client participating in the program reached out with their thanks, and had this to say:

"I want to thank you and the rest of the K-State Extension team for bringing the Simply Produce program to Oberlin. Please pass my thanks along to [everyone] who is responsible for coordinating it and making it happen. I think it is wonderful and it is a good thing for the community. I thought the selection and variety of food in this week's offering was the best that they have had. Really good, fresh and delicious.... Thanks again and keep up the good work."

Karen and Team, thanks for all you do for the people of Kansas, our colleagues and K-State Research and Extension.

If you know of a colleague or team of colleagues who deserve recognition for a job well done, why not nominate them for a Shout Out. Simply send their name(s) and the reason for the Shout Out to ksreshoutout@ksu.edu. Also, it would be very helpful if you would put "Shout Out" in the subject line of the email.
